1 Timothy 6:6-12

Sin “causes us to look horizontally for what can only ever be found vertically.” In short, we look to the things of this world to satisfy us, when only God and the promise of eternity can do that.

“So we look to creation for life, hope, peace, rest, contentment, identity, meaning and purpose, inner peace, and motivation to continue. The problem is that nothing in creation can give you those things. Creation was never designed to satisfy your heart.

See, God created all of these things on the earth in order to point us to Him. Creation cannot be our savior. Only God can save us and satisfy us forever.
